* *Background of AWS Cloud Architect role in Brief* * AWS Cloud Architect is responsible for deploying and managing an organisation's cloud computing architecture applications.
* Expertise in Cloud Operations, cloud administration, cloud-configuration management, and cloud monitoring in terms of design, implementation, and operation of systems applications, and processes to ensure cloud business readiness.
* Expected to have thorough knowledge of AWS Architecture framework and core pillars such as Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimization and Sustainability.
* Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of the architectural principles and services used to develop technical cloud strategy, assist with cloud migration efforts, review workload architectures, and provide guidance on how to address high-risk issues.
*Roles and responsibilities* * Solution Design - AWS Cloud Architects is responsible for designing scalable, cost-effective, and efficient solutions while taking care of compliance and best practices.
* Collaboration - working closely with stakeholders and product teams to gather technical and non-technical requirements and translate them into well-architected solutions and reliable delivery of service.
* Oversee updates of operational support documentation relating to specific cloud applications or services.
* Implementation - Implement solutions using AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.
Configure and deploy solutions using automated solutions such as AWS Cloud Formation and Terraform.
* Security and Compliance - Ensure that the architecture and solutions are compliant with AWS best practices and mitigate any security vulnerabilities that might occur.
* Performance Optimization - Focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
* Monitoring and Troubleshooting - Provide technical support on AWS-related issues, monitor solutions, and implement appropriate strategies to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
* Cloud Governance - Utilize tools such as IAM, resource tagging, cost management, etc.
to enforce AWS governance policies and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to address issues proactively.
* Candidate should act as Subject Matter Expert-SME for IT Cloud Operations.
* Design and implement robust and maintainable cloud utilities and automate the processes by writing scripting (IaC) for efficient cloud operations.
* Develop procedures, over sees, collaborates with cross-functional teams and implements costs allocation tags for AWS services.
*TECHNICAL SKILL SET * Expected to have strong hands-on experience with *AWS SDK using JAVA stack.
* AWS SDK refers to the software tools that use AWS resources for creating applications and libraries.
_*Data Storage:*_ * Thorough knowledge of data storage fundamentals is necessary as you will have to compare and analyze the price, capabilities, and performance of different cloud providers and then choose the best available option to store data.
_*Cloud Network Engineering:*_ * Should have in-dept knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, CDN, and VPC.
* Should be adept in CloudFront (CDN), Virtual Private Cloud(VPC), and services like Route 53 (DNS) for designing cloud networking using public and private subnets, internet access, and VPC peering.
* Designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based solutions using AWS designing and maintaining network architecture, etc.
_*Security Foundations:*_ * Familiarity with IAM/SSO including services like AWS WAF (Web Application Firewall), Amazon Inspector, AWS Key Management Service, AWS CloudHSM, AWS GuardDuty and AWS Secrets Manager.
* Strong knowledge of AWS data protection mechanisms, secure internet protocols, data encryption methods, and trade-off decisions about cost, security, and deployment complexity given a set of application requirements.
_*Cloud-specific patterns and technologies:*_ * Conversant with Cloud offerings which describe the functionality that is offered by cloud providers for use by an application for processing workload, communication, and data storage.
* Knowledge of Cloud application architectures that describe the structure of cloud applications and Cloud application management deals with the management of these applications.
* Expected to know how to use messages and how to handle failure to create cost-effective applications.
* Ability to use the AWS infrastructure for easy availability and recovery _*AWS Service Selection:*_ * Fully conversant with front and back-end technologies involved in a cloud architecture that is backed by components provided by AWS.
* Should have good knowledge of services available, and which of them would be relevant to a particular organization.
* Must be aware of the basic services like SNS (notifications), SQS (simple queuing), and RDS (Relational Database Service) etc.
