Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to be based out of New Bedford, MA.
Reporting to the Sr.
Director Operations, this person will be responsible for the overall operations of Engineering and Maintenance, including operating within the Atkore Business Systems (ABS).
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5-7 years of major professional accomplishments, including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams, and 3-5 years maintenance or mechanical background.
Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is required.
What you’ll do:
Lead multiple projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools and provide documentation and schedules for improvement.
Lead maintenance department to plan and integrated new or upgraded equipment.
Provide ownership of the capital expenditure process across plant sites.
Lead rebuild/re-design of machinery and processes to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Drive and participate in daily Gemba walks.
Lead Continuous Improvement activities.
Develop, coach and mentor team to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence.

What you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
5-7 years of major professional accomplishments, including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects and teams.
3-5 years maintenance or mechanical background.
Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company.
Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills that have resulted in strategic and tactical goal attainment.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
Complete your Atkore immersion program.
Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy.
Understand your team’s strengths and opportunities.
Gain an understanding of the products and processes.
Gain an understanding of the training materials and procedures your team owns.
Within 6 months, you’ll:
Partner with Safety, Quality, and HR to investigate and provide corrective measures for on-the-job accidents, injuries, customer complaints, and labor relations issues.
Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
Take full ownership of the Value Stream’s Lean Daily Management, including Daily Gemba Walks, KPI and KAI boards.
Fully understand how you and your team impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Update training materials and procedures, as necessary.
Within 12 months, you’ll:
Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.
Create and update reports, training materials and documentation.
Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
Drive Lean Excellence strategy for your Value Stream.
Develop strategies and implement projects to improve SQDC.
