Veterinary Technician Assistant

From Entry Level to Advanced, Technician Assistants with OSVS are an integral part of the team, performing necessary duties while being provided with training opportunities to grow and advance skills and knowledge.
All positions require some evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and organizing patient areas
Proper care for laundry (patient bedding, and/or surgical laundry)
Restocking supplies
Safe patient handling and restraint
Walking dogs (low-risk patients)
Assist Advanced Technician Assistants, with necessary tasks related to patient care, diagnostics and procedures
Deliver exceptional customer service to pet owners in a polite and timely manner
Assess patient vital signs, and general patient monitoring
Assisting with diagnostic tests such as radiographs, laboratory sample processing, examinations
Preparing for and assisting veterinarians with procedures and surgery
Opportunities to learn skills such as venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, assisting ER Technician appointments, and Outpatient care
Qualifications:
1 or more years' experience in a veterinary practice (receptionist, vet assistant, other) preferred, but not required
Professional, pleasant, engaged, clear communicator who is attentive and respectful to referring veterinarians, clients, and co-workers.
Must be able to follow direction, balance multiple tasks, be confident, and prioritize tasks appropriately.

OSVS is located in East Greenwich, RI with a satellite facility in Swansea, MA.
OSVS is a 26,000 sf building with a very busy emergency service, a nationally-respected internship and residency program, and specialists in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Avian/Exotics.
Specialized equipment includes telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, and MRI.
