Responsibilities: We are the industry leader in development and manufacturer of ceramic to metal seals for both the Aerospace and Medical markets.
We help improve the quality of life with our implantable medical components, and we ensure the safety of travelers by developing multiple components for the Aerospace industry.
This role is an exciting opportunity to join a global, dynamic, and high-tech team supporting the Medical and Aerospace industries.
The Direct Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for placing purchase orders for the procurement of direct components, materials, and services to support our sophisticated product mix.
This individual will be analyzing and evaluating current and new suppliers, negotiating vendor pricing and terms, ensuring product quality standards are met, and overseeing the product timelines for achieving the service and delivery requirements of our customers.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with ISO standards preferred.
Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, have good communication skills, and possess a positive attitude with the enthusiasm to perform in a team environment.
Essential Functions: Purchase components, materials, services etc.
Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Prepare request for quotes.
Convert requisitions to purchase orders.
Review RFQ’s and negotiate P.
O.
’s within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge to navigate through spreadsheets, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
Responsible for the training of co-workers as it related to the Purchasing department’s ISO procedures and procedure mapping.
Responsible for finding qualified vendors for purchasing components and tooling while actively pursuing cost savings.
Establish and maintain good supplier relationships.
Works within ISO standards as they relate to Morgan’s business objectives.
Manage communication of revision changes to vendors and completes all required updates.
Responsible for managing safety stock levels according to customer forecasted demand.
Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection, quality personnel, engineering, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Verify and approve invoices for payment within scope of authority.
Responsible for scheduling third party value-added operations for in-process components.
Maintain procurement records related to items or services purchased, cost, and delivery.
Expedite delivery of goods and services when needed.
Responsible for monthly safety trainings to ensure department compliance.
Other duties as required by supervisor Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines.
Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE.
Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.
