As a Behavior Therapist, you will be responsible for:
Protecting the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extending these rights and dignities to family members or guardians
Implementing behavior analysis educational and treatment programs of individual children with special healthcare needs in a clinic setting under the direction of the Lead Therapist and Program Director or designated Behavior Analyst
Committing to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes, including regular attendance at trainings and staff meetings
Assisting at whatever level necessary to meet the goals outlined in the treatment plan with consultation from Behavior Analyst.
Collecting data as assigned by the Behavior Analyst with regards to goals
Arriving to work in a timely manner, ensuring time for necessary communication with families to occur.
Reviewing treatment logs at the beginning and end of all shifts
Meeting with Lead Therapist and Behavior Analyst to review and discuss family issues, scheduling issues, and the administration of the plan
Implementing instructional strategies consistently and accurately as prescribed by the Lead Therapist, Program Director, and/or Behavior Analyst
Communicating any medical, physical, or other changes in student status to guardian and Lead Therapist
Coordinating activities when Lead Therapist is absent, as designated by the Program Coordinator and/or Behavior Analyst
Facilitating all aspects of child’s Treatment Plan including self-care and toileting skills using positive approaches and remembering that each person has individual needs and learning styles
Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff; providing co-workers with positive and constructive feedback
Performing all other duties and job assignments as required by the Director and Lead Therapist
Education/ Requirements:
Must be at least 19 years of age and have a high-school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or related field preferred
Experience working with children in a teaching capacity also preferred
Must be eager to learn and able to receive feedback/specific direction from supervisors
Must demonstrate competency to work with children with special health care needs as evidenced by active participation in department-specific formal training
Must successfully pass BCI and CANTs screenings
Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and automobile insurance preferred
