Behavior Technician (RBT) Position Description:
A behavior therapist/technician will provide ABA therapy to children ages 2-12 who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental and language delays in a center setting.
Behavior Technician (RBT) Key Responsibilities: Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients Follow the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plan Collect and record data Write therapy note for each session using an electronic medical records system Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding the client’s progress as instructed by the child’s assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as instructed Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment Maintain client safety and confidentiality Maintain and acquire functional and technical knowledge by attending required trainings Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and follow the guidelines set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Contribute to a positive working environment Requirements: Behavior Technician (RBT) Basic & Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry clients who are least 30 pounds Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Support Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, bending, for extended periods of time.
Must be able to walk and run to chase clients and maintain a three-foot distance at all times Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, diapering, toileting, and dressing Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection and session documentation Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication though computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
Must be able to take written data and transfer to electronic files or data base systems Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk or on the floor Must be able to assemble, clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture Must be able to administer medication to clients Behavior Technician (RBT) Job Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
College degree preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Detail oriented.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the team and clients.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism.
Preferred: Experience: Experience working with children ages 2-12 in a classroom, day care or 1:1 setting.
Experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis; Educational or Allied Health.
