YOUR ROLE AS A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT
You're dedicated to enhancing the lives of our students.
You implement treatment protocols prescribed by the SLP, maintaining a predictable schedule for speech therapy services in accordance with IEP requirements.
Your role is multifaceted, from modeling language comprehension strategies to collecting accurate data during therapy sessions.
You consult with the SLP to ensure the students' progress aligns with therapy objectives.
Your expertise allows you to pace treatment sessions for maximum student response and utilize appropriate cues and prompts.
You provide behavioral reinforcement tailored to each student, selecting the right materials for therapy.
Equally important is your role in training direct care staff to apply speech therapy recommendations.
You offer orientation training in communication, feeding, swallowing, and assistive technology.
You serve as a liaison, effectively communicating information and concerns between students, guardians, staff, and the supervising SLP.
With keen attention to detail, you maintain accurate records and recognize signs of dysphagia, reporting safety concerns to the supervising SLP.
Your dedication to the holistic well-being of our students is paramount, ensuring that all therapy efforts lead to increased independence and safety!
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and MA licensure to practice as an SLPA
A valid driver's license for more than one year and the ability to drive the company's wheelchair or mini-vans safely according to Massachusetts driving laws
Willingness to participate in a minimum of two hours per month of in-service training to further develop necessary skills
