MIKEL is currently looking for an experienced Accounting Manager for onsite in our Middletown, RI office.
As the Accounting Manager your role/responsibilities will include: Preparation of financial statements and related account analysis, ensuring that all accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP.
Management of accounting function through daily interaction, goal setting, and developing capabilities.
Responsible for the day-to-day activities and transactions of A/P, A/R and transactions coming in from other ERP modules.
Also responsible for periodic budgeting and reporting and often serving in a player-coach role within the finance group.
Manage annual/monthly reporting including account substantiation, budget and actual variance analysis, rate reports and other ad hoc reporting, all with high visibility by the executive leadership team.
Manage the monthly close (and year end close) process and reconciliation including, labor and revenue reconciliation and reviewing progress of the close to ensure the timely and accurate closing of Deltek Costpoint.
Prepare and manage annual DCMA Incurred Cost Submission in accordance with Government regulations Serve as subject matter expert in revenue recognition for the company, implementing process improvement and automation of reporting and analysis to ensure revenue is properly reflected in the general ledger.
Oversee and manage all annual financial, benefits and government compliance audits (DCAA and DCMA) with outside auditors High attention to detail and strong time management skills Provide guidance and counsel to staff.
Conduct periodic performance evaluations, recommend personnel actions and act as resource for staff where and when required.
Conduct periodic individual and/or group staff meetings.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications BA or BS degree in accounting or finance is required and a CPA or CMA designation is strongly desired.
2 to 4 years of Public Accounting experience along with 3 to 7 years of experience in industry preferred.
Detailed experience with all aspects of closing the periodic financial statements including account level reconciliations, reviews and balance substantiation.
Direct experience with professional services, U.
S.
Government contracting and multi-period revenue recognition accounting principles Additional experience managing manufacturing and cost accounting functions a plus.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in organizing, coordinating, and supervising accounting and operational support staff.
Prior experience managing the entire financial, budgeting and reporting function Ability to communicate effectively with the internal and external customers as well as and other MIKEL executive team members Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar project-based ERP accounting system as a superuser or administrator.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint presentation abilities.
Strong attention to detail including qualitative analytical and forecasting skills, technical proficiency, and strong ability to interpret accounting information and reports while seamlessly moving from detailed analysis to a concise overview when necessary.
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complicated accounting and financial issues verbally and in writing to all levels within and outside of the organization.
Experience in designing, implementing, evaluating and managing robust internal control systems.
Demonstrated ability to draft/interpret institutional financial and accounting policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations, and to communicate results Previous leadership experience with the ability to influence and lead others, as well as interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
